5 Myths About CBD Debunked

In the age of the Internet, it’s easy for misinformation to spread. CBD is popular right now, but there are still a lot of myths about it that circle the Internet and real life. Don’t believe the hype—take a closer look! Here are five myths about CBD that don’t stand up to scrutiny.

1. TAKING CBD WILL MAKE YOU HIGH

This is easily the biggest misconception about CBD…but it’s false. While some elements of the cannabis plant like THC can definitely cause intoxication, you won’t have to worry about this when you’re taking high-quality CBD.

Some hemp oil contains trace amounts of the psychoactive compound THC. And when we say “trace amounts,” we’re talking no more than 0.3% by weight. It takes several milligrams of THC to cause even a little bit of intoxication, so unless you’re going around chugging entire bottles of dark tincture in a single sitting – which we don’t generally recommend – it’s not an issue.
In other words, you can get the mood-boosting effects of CBD while still being able to operate heavy machinery (like your car).

2. CBD IS A NEW FAD

CBD’s recent insane explosion of popularity has made a lot of people mistakenly believe it’s just the latest fad in natural health. This is not the case – CBD has actually been used for a variety of health purposes for thousands of years, and has been the subject of hundreds of studies and clinical trials throughout the medical field. More information still needs to be gathered, but using CBD for health reasons is definitely not a new concept!

3. CBD CAN FIX EVERYTHING WITHOUT ANY SIDE-EFFECTS

CBD isn’t a miracle cure, so be suspicious of anyone who tells you otherwise. It has potential side-effects just like you would find with any natural remedy or supplement. Although CBD can help treat a wide variety of ailments and may FEEL like magic…it isn’t. And even if it works for you, you might still experience some side effects. You should also be wary of taking CBD when you are on a medication that could interact with cannabidiol.

4. CBD OIL IS JUST HEMP OIL

It’s easy to make this assumption. After all, CBD comes from the cannabis plant, and hemp is a kind of cannabis. Shouldn’t all CBD oil be hemp oil? Not really! Hemp oil is generally just made from the seeds of the plant, while CBD oil is made from the flowers, leaves, and stalks of the plant. That’s because the flowers, leaves, and stalks contain lots of CBD while the seeds do not.

Basically it’s like this:
“Hemp oil” = hemp SEED oil = good on a salad
“CBD oil” = hemp PLANT oil = good in a salve

5. ALL CBD OIL IS THE SAME

Because CBD is a natural compound, all CBD products must be the same, right? Wrong again. With CBD’s increased popularity, it’s easy for some companies to see CBD as a cash grab. There are unscrupulous folks out there that take advantage of being in an unregulated industry by cutting corners to save money.
Be picky about where your CBD comes from. Only use companies that utilize third-party lab testing for quality control. Do as much research as you can to ensure you’re getting CBD from a well-respected brand.
